Journal of anime ramblings, fiction works and reflections
What’d I say?? What. Did. I. Say??
I just KNEW Rin would end up missing Haru – end up missing the entire group. He grew up with these guys and the bond that he had (or still has..latently) with Haru isn’t one that can easily be forgotten or replaced. No matter how much his fanboy tries, who I think needs to just disappear into the shadows of this anime. I’m not sure why he annoys me so much but he does.
Maybe that “I won’t ever swim with again. Never” speech was just a blurt of the moment because he thought that was all he needed to do to become “free”. But there’s a lot more to it than just that. Rin won’t ever be free because he misses his friends – they have always been a huge part of his life and a big chunk of him is missing without them.
I’m guessing this is his next strategy to try and move on – beating them all as a group. There was a lot of emphasis placed on the memories of them being together as a group – bringing up the entire idea of the value of friendship and this is another obstacle I guess Rin will have to overcome if he wants to move on. AND NOTICE!! He will be swimming with Rin again! Because I’m sure he’ll do the freestyle.
In all honesty though, I did feel a bit sorry for him when he had all those memories (
that can be coupled with the fact that I was listening to music that went so well with the scene). I really do hope they will become friends again. The relationship between Haru an Rin is just so deep. Did you see how depressed Rin was during the entire festival, up until the ending when he finally realized he wanted to swim with his friends (insert tears of joy here).
Nagisa has the best wink ever. This was my favorite part of the entire episode and Rei is such a ninja. I’m so happy he decided to join the swim club because he’s such an amazing and hilarious character.
