Journal of anime ramblings, fiction works and reflections
I just finished the third episode of Kamisami no Inai Nichiyoubi and I am so confused.
Why did Hampnie die? It doesn’t make any sense. Nothing that’s happening in Kamisami makes any sense. It seems so disjointed.
First they were sleeping. They leave their hideout. Hampnie kicks Ai off the bridge when something alerts him. He blows up the bridge. He gets captured by biker, coked out zombies (that’s what they looked like). Then the leader starts his monologue about something that makes no sense. But it makes sense to Hampnie because he reacts to it and says he’ll kill him.
Well at least Ai knows who her father is. Hampnie got that part of his memory back. Apparently, when he dies, he loses a bit of his memory when his immortality revives him.
I’ll miss his sexy face but besides that, the sadness of it didn’t impact me. I was just stunned and confused that everything happened so quickly because I thought he was a main character. And probably I’m not bothered by his death because I’m thinking that he’ll come back – just like Eren did. I don’t think he’s DEAD. Yet it seems he won’t come back, because his dying wish was fulfilled. That’s how immortals die in this anime – when their wish is fulfilled. Hampnie wanted someone there to mourn him, to appreciate him and in a way to have Hana (Ai’s mother and his lover) back and he got all of that through Ai.
If he really isn’t coming back then, I feel sorry for Ai and I hope she moves on and gets better at being a grave keeper, because that’s her main goal now. The only part of it that made me feel some form of lump in my throat was when I saw his tears and that was it.
The only thing I liked about this episode was the action and Hampnie’s return as a ‘Dead’ to spend a day with Ai before she buried him because I love father/daughter moments.
Scar is cool.
I’ll give this one more episode before I decide whether to drop it or keep watching.
That’s all for now.
