Journal of anime ramblings, fiction works and reflections
That wasn’t the original title, but let me just roll with it.
It seems what Dr. Jaeger said about memory loss and confusion actually took effect on Eren in this episode. Becoming a titan really takes a toll on Eren; both physically and mentally. Frankly, I don’t believe he’s ready for this huge responsibility. He’s probably going to need that 3-day intense training period like Ichigo had (
even then he couldn’t completely control his hollow form although he reached bankai). But he doesn’t even have that much time.
I found Mikasa’s fleeting transition into a blushing sweetheart so cute.
In the first part of the episode, I thought when she went up in Eretitan’s face and spoke to him, that it would have sparked some recollection of what he was supposed to be doing – as is the case in other anime when the protagonist gets consumed by his power (
Inuyasha). I was a little surprised that that didn’t work, probably his titan was still acting on that anti-Mikasa instinct.
But it was Armin that got through to him! I feel like he’s the only one getting some sort of character development. His surge of bravery and reliability was surprising, it was impressive and I really hope Armin continues to grow into this new found confidence and maturity. I loved the scene where he was talking to Eren; especially the portrayal of Eren’s delusions and Armin speaking to him through the window.
Jean. Jean. Jean. I’m a bit worried about him. Since when does the maneuver gear just stop working?? Murphy’s Law is working against him right now. I’ve become a little attached to him, he’s one of those characters I really wouldn’t want anything bad happening to. But it’s obvious he has a plan.
I’m hoping it works. Maybe Connie will come to help him out. This episode didn’t feel that slow to me and I’m glad there was at least some Titan rampage going on. I missed it a little. The battle seems stiff though but Armin did his job in bringing Eren back to the present; so maybe there is some hope. Probably Hanji Zoe and Levi will show up in the next episode.
In other news, I’ve realized my late night dreams are affected by what I see on TV – to some extent. Last night I glimpsed an episode of Magic City that my sister was watching and had a lovely dream about Stevie.
Maybe I should test if it works again tonight. So I’ll be watching an episode of Spartacus…that has Gannicus in it. Ohohoho.
That is all for now.
