Journal of anime ramblings, fiction works and reflections
I really didn’t think it would take me THIS long to finish the 30 day anime challenge. I probably should have done the Boys Before Flowers challenge instead, since my choices are fixed and I wouldn’t need to think long and hard about anything. Because Ji Hoo is my everything…well was, my crush on him has sailed…I think.
Moving on though (If you haven’t watched Boys Over/Before Flowers, you probably should.)
My favorite Harem anime.
Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai/Haganai (lit. I Don’t Have Many Friends)
I don’t even think I can really describe just how much I love this anime. I’m just so sad that I have to wait for the third season, I felt like tearing up a little because I wasn’t ready for the second season to end yet (and my commentary on that will be posted soon).
Haganai is my favorite for a bunch of reasons. It doesn’t make itself just another harem series. It’s extremely silly but very serious at the same time. Everyone gets character development (more so in the second season. I love Rika so much). And the content really left me wanting more and more. All the characters are likable and Kodaka is very considerate and not a douche bag like some other Harem protagonists.
Case in point: Makoto Itou
So if you haven’t started watching Haganai you should, you’ll love it.
In the meantime, to fill the void I’ve been watching Baccano! I started it because Durarara! recommended it (it was used as the password in the anime and there was a scene where the sub translation read “You must watch Baccano!).
I’m at episode 8 so far and still confused because the sequence of action works in three different time frames, so I’m still piecing everything together. It’s really entertaining though, and the opening reminds me so much of Cowboy Bebop.
That’s it for now.
