Journal of anime ramblings, fiction works and reflections
I’ve thought long and hard on this one (…not really) and my pick comes from the anime: Yamato nadeshiko shichi henge (The Wallflower).
The “dazzling creature” (in the famous words of Sunako), who is a glut with a hot temper. I love Kyohei because even though he’s abrasive, he still has a decent amount of care for people (though his way of showing it involves a lot of shouting and grabbing). He saved her when she was being bullied and defended her when people called her ugly. And his hot tempered moments were actually some of the most hilarious parts of the anime.
He was a great character, with a sad back story to why he became so irritated with people. I liked the sporadic romantic scenes between him and Sunako. They are perfect for each other…
This anime is really interesting, really funny. The manga is longer and I haven’t gotten to read it yet. To summarize, it’s about Sunako Nakahara, who had a traumatic experience being called ugly. That caused her to reject all beautiful things and led to her acceptance of dark, gothic and gory stuff. (I would make gifs but I don’t have much time on the computer).
Her aunt, who has four gorgeous male tenants, bribed them into teaching Sunako to become a lady so they could live in her fancy mansion free of cost. So the events surrounding that are hilarious. Sunako and her dark, menacing aura and the guys’ failing attempts to turn her into the “perfect lady”. I finished it in two days because the story line and plot development were really something, and the humor was on point.
The Japanese drama of it was pretty great too. The Kyohei actor(Kayuza Kamenashi) pinned the anime character perfectly.
Had this been a pick from manga, I’d choose Kurosaki Tasuku from Dengeki Daisy.
