Journal of anime ramblings, fiction works and reflections
Let me just admit that Amnesia is slowly becoming one of my guilty pleasure animes. Even as it goes on in its roundabout premise, I still want to see the chemistry between Amnesia girl and her love interests and if there will be any amount of sense to come out of this. There is no Ikki in episode seven, and as I predicted, Kento is the new boyfriend.
So Kento. His disposition and approach to relationships is significantly set apart from the previous boyfriends: Shin and Ikki. Where Shin was a complete tsundere with a flare of spontaneous romantic moves, Kento is without a touch of romance. Where Ikki had an uncanny sense of charm and care for Amnesia girl, Kento is emotionally detached and dysfunctional. It seems a little strange that there would be any sort of relationship between them. They are by far the most incompatible.
He does try, as gauche as he is, to make the relationship a bit more comfortable between them when he invited her to stay at the library with him while he finished his paper. His gestures and speech are still rough but Amnesia girl can appreciate his efforts. And, so can I. He takes her to a festival where a memory she had from the first episode, plays out.
That promise was to take her to the temple, even though he made it clear that he was never interested in such places. As blunt as he is, he still makes the effort to go through the motions of a relationship, for her sake.
That makes Kento the first to meet Orion, who he calls a “fairy”. They have a conversation, using Amnesia girl as the medium and it is inferred that she is living in some sort of parallel universe. Now, when I try to sum all that up, I’m getting a bit of static in my mind, because I’m trying to think about it in the simplest way and it just isn’t working. As Orion is about to explain further, he disappears yet again.
After they leave Kento’s place, someone bumps into her and they get separated, which leads her into another “parallel universe” as I understand it.
And Toma appears.
Shine on Amnesia. Shine the fuck on. Whereas both Shin and Ikki got a three-episode arc, Kento only had one. So THAT makes it clear that those two really are not an item. I wasn’t really annoyed with this episode, Kento brought a sort of different tone to it – even though any sort of real development was cut too short. I’d like to see how Toma’s story works out, even though I have a pretty good idea what sort of route it will take.
As for the anime challenge: DAY 11: Favorite Mech Series. I have none, since I haven’t ever really watched any. I started Code Geass, Gundam and Total Eclipse but never got to finish them.
Until then, have a goodnight or morning, wherever you are, my lovelies o/.
