There is a new theory that surfaces in this episode: the “Mage of Exodus Theory”. It’s linked to the Yoshino theory and involves Hanemura. Samon described it as the splitting of the mage’s body (heart and power) to cunningly win against the Tree of Genesis. Hanemura has the power but lacks the cunning trait to kill. Yoshino, however, is believed to possess that trait.
I cannot say I fully disagree with Samon; my biases won’t allow me to be blind to obvious matters in this case. Yoshino used that cunning ability to help Hakaze escape from the time prison. He was able to stir levels of doubt both in Samon’s and Mahiro’s minds long enough for Hakaze to find her way back. He also attacked Mahiro (maybe not with the intentions to kill) to distract him from the deal he was about to make with Samon (episodes 12-13).
Hakaze is still dealing with her growing love for Yoshino, which she tries so hard to keep in rigid check. There was a lot of humor in those scenes and I can excuse her “damsel in distress” moments because it didn’t detract from her character. It’s funny how she’s oblivious to the fact that she’s competing against a dead girl. In the second half of the episode she confessed then demanded that Yoshino do something to make her feelings for him go away.
Meanwhile in Samon’s home; Junichirou, Mahiro, and Samon were trying to figure out who Yoshino’s girlfriend was. The results they came up with were so funny (married woman, female teacher, big boobs etc.). It’s amazing that Hanemura was able to deduce the situation and state the obvious. Aika was Yoshino’s girlfriend.
What will happen next? I can’t wait for next Thursday. Poor Mahiro…
Aika is absolutely gorgeous though.
